PITTSBURGH — The Butler Catholic fifth-sixth grade boys basketball team will play St. Gregory of Zelienople at 3:15 p.m. Saturday at the A.J. Palumbo Center.

The game will precede the George Mason-Duquesne college basketball game.

Butler Catholic team members include Nathan Higgins, Sean LeMay, Nicolas Maher, Josiah McConnell, Trevor Braun, Jacob Klinko, Carson Laconi, Jon Livermore, Nick Rine, CJ Singleton, Daniel Voelker and Flint Watson.

HERSHEY — The Butler High School competitive cheerleading squad placed second in the small-squad division at the PIAA Competitive Spirit Championships Saturday.The Golden Tornado received 243.10 points from the judges. Pine-Richland won the event with 250.90 points.Pine-Richland finished second to Butler at the recent WPIAL Championships.

Butler graduates and collegiate soccer players Sean Bernardi and Glenn Brennen have been named honorable mention All-East Region scholar-athletes.Bernardi, a junior midfielder at Geneva, carries a 3.83 grade point average as a sports management major. Brennen, a junior defender at Centenary, carries a 3.47 GPA as an elementary education major.

Senior Frank Holloway scored 34 points and grabbed 19 rebounds as The Rock's mens basketball team earned wins over California (Pa.) and Clarion University last week to be named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week.He had 16 points and 12 rebounds against the Golden Eagles and 18 points and seven rebounds against the Vulcans.
