Union wrong on issue

I agree with the sentiments of the Butler Eagle’s Nov. 20 editorial regarding the influenza vaccination/surgical mask controversy at the county taxpayer-owned Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. As the editorial states, the hand-waving by the union representing workers will unnecessarily place patients at risk while advancing pseudo-science. Health care workers should be immunized against influenza as a condition of employment. Any capitulation on this issue by the county is a dereliction of its duty to taxpayers, as well as an indictment of the professionalism of Sunnyview’s workforce.
