Butler’s junior high wrestling team placed third at the 22-team North Allegheny Invitational last weekend.

Caleb Baxter pinned four opponents to win the 105-pound weight class and improve to 19-0 on the year. Hank Finan was second at 145, Scotty Dietrich and Eli Hartung third at 110 and 165, respectively.

Hugh O’Neil, Zack Hunka and Mike Vought placed sixth at 85, 122 and 138 pounds.

In other action, Logan Donnel won the 12-under 80-pound weight class at the first-year novice tournament in Freedom.

HockeyChristian Miller scored two goals as the Pittsburgh Huskies clinched at least a tie for second place in the PAHL Under-16 Class AA division with a 4-2 win over the Butler Valley Dawgs recently.Goalie Clay Bachman stopped 18 of 20 shots. Cam Williams and Nick Whann scored the other goals and Nick Makozy had two assists.Mitchel Rupprecht and Marcus McCall scored for Butler Valley. Brian Burger stopped 27 of 31 shots.

BasketballButler seventh grade White defeated Seneca Valley Black, 23-14, as Connor Ollio and Luke Michalek scored eight points each. Grant Metzger added five.They followed up with a 34-31 triumph over Pine-Richland as Michalek and Jake Kradel had 12 points apiece while Ollio added eight points.Butler improved to 11-9 on the season.
