Butler’s junior high wrestling team placed eighth in the 44-team field at the Southwest Regional Championships last weekend.
Caleb Baxter was the Golden Tornado’s lone champion, going 5-0 on the weekend to win the 105-pound title. He ended the season with a 25-0 record.
Scotty Dietrich placed fourth at 110 pounds, Hank Finan fifth at 145, Zack Hunka sixth at 122 and Eli Hartung sixth at 165.
Along with Baxter, top won-loss records for Butler this season include Dietrich at 23-4, Hunka 22-8, Finan 20-8, Hartung 19-8, Hugh O’Neil 15-6, Donovan Malovich 16-8, Sammy Dietrich 15-8, Mike Vought 13-11, Christian Sequete 7-3 and Justin Johnson 7-1.
Hockey
Robbie Reichenbaugh scored five goals and added an assist as Freeport’s freshmen defeated Deer Lakes, 8-5.
Cassie Suran added a goal and two assists, Kyle Hazelett and Tanner Hill a goal each, Case Haberstroh two assists. Morgan Penn made 22 saves in goal.
In other action:
The Pittsburgh Huskies Under-16 Class AA squad (24-8-1) won the annual President’s Day Tournament in York over the weekend.
The Huskies won four games in their title run.
Goalie Clay Bachman stopped 130 of 140 shots.Christian Miller had nine goals and three assists, Nick Makozy four goals and five assists, Connor Scott four goals and three assists, Dustin Davis three goals and six assists, Nick Whann three goals and three assists, Perry Shiring two goals and three assists.
Defensively, Cody Krstonich led the way with a plus-10. Rick Dengler a plus-8, Corey Alston plus-7, Ethan Marie and Dalton Scott plus-6.
