Blind man's mobile home stolen

POLK, Venango County — Police are investigating the disappearance of a 69-year-old blind man’s mobile home.

James Harley said his mobile home, which measures 14 by 80 feet, was stolen in December.

Police Chief Ed Sharp said there are no suspects in the case.

Harley told police the home was taken from the property he was renting.

Harley was in the process of moving and was living at another location at the time.

He had not been to the home for about a month, and when he returned he found that it was gone, Sharp said.

The owner of the property where the home sat said she didn’t know the trailer was gone until a relative mentioned it to her, according to Sharp.

Sharp said neighbors told him they saw people at the trailer for two or three days — at first getting the trailer ready to be moved and then moving it off the property.

Sharp said whoever moved the trailer didn’t get a permit from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation or local authorities, and that it was “moved illegally.”

Sharp said the investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking anyone with information about the mobile home’s whereabouts to contact them at 814-432-3484.
