Sarah Chobot, daughter of Stephen and Jayne Chobot of Butler, was recently recognized for her research on the protein system in cells.A senior at Boston University, she presented her findings during the 2005 spring symposium of the Young Chemists Conference (JungChemikerForum) in Berlin and to Capitol Hill lawmakers, funding officers and guests as part of the Council of Undergraduate Research's Posters on the Hill presentation, held April 19.---
Matt Rippin of Butler Township was a member of the Duquesne University team that finished eighth out of 223 teams in The Association of Trial Lawyers of America's National Student Trial Advocacy Competition.The national competition was April 7 to 10 in West Palm Beach, Fla., and focused on civil cases dealing with products liability, medical malpractice/negligence issues or personal injury.The Duquesne team of four law students advanced to the national competition after becoming regional champions in February.Two of the team's coaches are Duquesne law professor Michael Streib and District Judge Kelly Streib, both of Cranberry Township.---

Abbey Rogers, the daughter of Skip and Julie Rogers and a senior at Seneca Valley High School, has accepted a congressional appointment to the Air Force Academy.She will begin basic cadet training on July 1.---

Coast Guard cadet 1st Class Joshua Daubenspeck, son of Larry and Jane Daubenspeck of Butler, was recently inducted into the Sigma Iota Epsilon fraternity at the Coast Guard Academy.A 2001 graduate of Moniteau High School, he is majoring in management.---
Brandi Leslie, daughter of Kenneth Leslie Jr. of Butler and Terri Leslie of Sarver, has been inducted in the Chi Lamda Tau honorary leadership society at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
