<b>Jennifer Byers</b>, daughter of William and Sallie Byers of Zelienople, has been awarded the Young Presbyterian Scholarship and the Alumni Scholarship from Westminster College and the Seneca Valley Education Association's Teaching Scholarship.A recent graduate of Seneca Valley High School, she was a member of the Wind Ensemble and the National Honor Society and the field director for the Raider Marching Band.Byers was also named to Seneca Valley's highest honor roll, received a fourth year Scholastic Award and was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students.She currently works part time at Monte Cello's Italian Restaurant in Zelienople.Byers has been accepted to Westminster College for the fall 2005 term, where she plans to pursue a degree in elementary education.---

The Saxonburg American Legion Auxiliary Post 683 recently announced the winners of its annual essay contest.First place winners in both the local and county-wide categories included <b>Summer Van Tine</b> and <b> Colby Matthews</b>, both of St. Luke Lutheran School in Cabot.<br></br><br></br>

The essay topic was "My Letter to a Person in the Armed Forces." Copies of the 79 essays received in the contest are being sent to military personnel serving overseas.---<br></br><br></br><br></br>

<b>Mark Rodgers</b>, son of Vaughn and Connie Rodgers of Butler, will perform with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps Aug. 2 at the Three Rivers Summer Music games at Baldwin High School.A junior music education major at Slippery Rock University, he is a member of the university's jazz band and marching band.Rodgers is a 2003 graduate of Butler High School.For information on the Cavaliers visit www.cavaliers.org. <b>Clinton Park</b>, son of Susan Hasychak of Butler and Ronald Park of Somerset, has been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville for the fall 2005 term.A 2005 graduate of Somerset High School, he plans to major in business management.---

<b>Renae Cashmere</b> of Fenelton has been appointed to a graduate assistantship in the Communication Science and Disorders separtment at Clarion University.She graduated in 2000 from Butler High School and graduated summa cum laude from Clarion University, where she was an active member of the NSSHLA, Phi Eta Sigma, Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Kappa Pi. She was also named to the dean's list.---

<B>Sarah Rodgers</b> of Chicora has been appointed to a graduate assistantship in the Communication Science and Disorders department at Clarion University.She graduated in 2001 from Moniteau High School and is a graduate of Clarion University. While at the university, she was a member and captain of the cross country team and a member of the track team, earning All Academic honors during her four years of participation.---

<B>Anne Wonsettler,</b> daughter of William and Lee Williams of Slippery Rock, is serving as a Canadian parliamentary intern with Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky.She is a political affairs major at Millersville University.---

<b>Adam Lewis</b> of Mars was recently awarded a full tuition Presidential Scholarship from DeVry University in Fort Washington.---

<b>Joseph Marshall</b>, a senior at Moniteau High School, has been named the winner of the Pennsylvania Right to Work Defense and Education Foundation's annual essay contest.Contest entrants were required to write an essay discussing the economic performance of Oklahoma since the 2001 passage of that state's Right to Work law and give recommendations for members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly to use in its debate for a Right to Work law for Pennsylvania.Marshall was presented a $500 cash award for his essay, which will be published by the foundation.
