Kenneth H. 'Pump' Strobel

Kenneth H. "Pump" Strobel, 90, of Butler died Friday at VA Butler Healthcare.

He was born Sept. 9, 1919, in Butler, a son of the late Albert and Myrtle Plunkard Strobel.

Pump was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He saw action in Normandy and the European Theater of War and earned the Purple Heart.

He was a lifelong auto mechanic and worked for several GM dealerships in Butler. He also managed the Boron service station on Hansen Avenue for 15 years until his retirement in 1983.

Pump was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

He enjoyed traveling and bowling.

He was the husband of Gladys M. Stickle Strobel, who he married Nov. 21, 1946. She survives him.

Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth H. Strobel and his wife, Marsha Strobel, of White Bear Lake, Minn., and David G. Strobel of Prospect; a daughter, Tempa R. Bittner and her husband, Terry Bittner, of New Castle; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Strobel and her son, Jason; four grandchildren and their spouses, Michael B. and LoriAnn Bittner, Michele L. and Charlie Hartman, Joseph G. and Sylvia Bittner and Jeffrey Strobel; and five great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

His son, Douglas E. Strobel, along with his brother, Paul Strobel and his sisters, Lorraine McClymonds and Alberta Pape, preceded him in death.

<B>STROBEL </B>— Friends and family of Kenneth H. "Pump" Strobel, who died Friday, May 21, 2010, will gather from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Inurnment will take place at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park.
