Body found in Howard St. home, woman may have been dead week
Authorities say a 38-year-old woman may have been dead for a week before her body was found Tuesday at her home in the 200 block of Howard Street.
Foul play was not immediately suspected. Butler police were still trying to notify next of kin and they did not release her name.
Police were called to the house just before 11:30 a.m. after a postal employee called 911.
“The postal worker noticed an accumulation of mail,” said police Capt. Jim Hollobaugh, “and an odor coming from the residence.”
Butler County Deputy Coroner Larry Barr pronounced the woman dead in her bedroom around 12:45 p.m. She apparently lived alone.
An autopsy was conducted but the cause of death is still pending toxicology results.
There was no trauma to the body.
