Alvin J. Tait
Alvin J. Tait, 83, of East Metzger Avenue died at 2:26 a.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born July 2, 1924, in Louisville, Ohio, he was the son of Ralph "RB" and Edna M. O'Donnell Tait.
He was a retired electronics technician superintendent at the T.W. Phillips Oil and Gas Co. for 42 years. He was a graduate of Coyne Electrical School in Chicago.
He attended the First United Methodist Church.
He served in the Coast Guard during World War II in Europe and Japan. He was a member of the Butler Lodge 272 F&AM, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of New Castle, and a former elder and deacon at St. Paul United Church of Christ.
He was an avid outdoorsman, gardener, traveler and storyteller.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beryl Christie Tait, whom he married March 28, 1993; three daughters, Pamela L. Tait of Butler, Sue Lancaster and her husband, Hayden, of Vienna, W.Va., and Sallie Benjamin and her husband, Tom, of Butler; four grandchildren, David, Elise, Adam and Ashley Gale; a great-grandson, Ian; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice A. Sweeney Tait, who died Aug. 22, 1991; and a brother, Robert Tait.

North St.Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev.
