Marburger products receive accolades
JACKSON TWP — It’s no Michael Phelps, but Marburger Farm Dairy’s buttermilk is now a three-time gold medalist.
Coming home from Los Angeles, where the dairy plant participated in the 2019 Los Angeles International Dairy Contest, both Marburger’s buttermilk and chocolate milk took home prizes.
The milks were judged on a number of criteria — freshness, taste, bottling, packaging and texture. The buttermilk beat out Organic Valley’s and Turner Dairy Farm’s products, although Marburger’s chocolate milk came in second to the Penn Hills-based Turner.
Marburger’s buttermilk previously won gold medals at the Los Angeles event in 2017 and at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisc., in 2015. This is the first year in which Marburger has received two awards at the same event.
Kelsey Walko, corporate sales assistant for the farm, said the buttermilk’s history of successes in the Los Angeles contest stems from the customers who continue to support Marburger.
“And the wonderful local farmers who make it all possible,” she added.
