A county detective arrested a Zelienople couple after a confidential informant reported their alleged intention to sell heroin.

Police charged Heather Krapp and Gregory Basilone in June with drug possession with intent to deliver, conspiracy and other lesser charges.

Detective Matthew Irvin, acting under the guise of the Butler County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, was the arresting officer. Irvin is also a sergeant with the Cranberry Police Department.

“I was contacted by a confidential informant ... who reported they were in cellular communication with a male, identified as Gregory Basilone,” Irvin said in his report, “who offered to sell one gram of heroin to the CI for $250.”

The informant set up the sale and coordinated with authorities who provided him with approved funds and made sure he was clear of any contraband.

“The CI traveled to Basilone’s residence in the presence of Task Force officers,” Irvin said. “The CI entered the residence at about 4:32 p.m. and exited at about 4:38 p.m.”

He was immediately met by the officers, supplying them with a piece of folded paper containing a white, powdered substance. The officers obtained a search warrant and went to execute it. “During the execution of the warrant, Krapp and Basilone were present inside of the residence,” said Irvin.

Officers also found, and seized, folded papers containing “a white, powdery substance,” five cell phones, a small plastic bag also containing the white substance and a myriad of ingestion devices.

“Basilone was also in possession of an aluminum container containing white pills which he identified as Xanax, the $250 in official funds and $576 in U.S. currency,” said Irvin.

Both Basilone and Krapp were held in Butler County jail until their $25,000 bails were posted.
