Stolen gun probe leads to drug charges against man
An investigation into a stolen gun turned up about six ounces of suspected marijuana at a home in Slippery Rock Township, authorities said.
State police Wednesday charged Brandon D. McFadden, 20, who lives at the home on Kaibab Trail, with felony drug possession.
Troopers from the Mercer station went to McFadden's home Feb. 21 in connection with the stolen gun investigation, police said. He allowed them to search his bedroom on the bottom floor of the house.
The troopers reported that when they got there they smelled a “strong odor” of marijuana, and they also noticed suspected marijuana and other drug contraband, police said.
“A search of McFadden's bedroom yielded approximately 170 grams of marijuana,” according to charging documents, “separated in 11 Ziploc bags, and two scales.”
McFadden is charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony, and 13 misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is free on $5,000 unsecured bond.
A preliminary hearing is set Wednesday at the office of District Judge Bill O'Donnell in Slippery Rock. Online court records did not indicate if he has an attorney.
