Teen jailed in alleged attack on girlfriend in Cranberry
CRANBERRY TWP — A Beaver County man is in Butler County Prison on charges that he beat and struck his minor girlfriend.
Steven Robert Frankum II, 18, of North Sewickley Township, is charged with misdemeanor simple assault, strangulation and possession of drug paraphernalia as well as summary harassment after Cranberry Township police said he punched, kicked and strangled his girlfriend following an argument.
According to an affidavit filed by officer Jeremy Norton, police were dispatched to a Sussex Drive house just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday after a caller reported seeing a male standing over and kicking a female in the doorway of a house.
The girl, who identified herself to police as Frankum's juvenile girlfriend, said the fight began when the two argued. After that, the affidavit states, Frankum threw a set of keys at her before throwing her to the ground and kicking her “throughout her body.”
Norton's affidavit states that Frankum then struck the victim on the back of her head and placed both of his hands around her neck, choking her.
After Frankum was placed under arrest, according to the affidavit, police found a glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue in his possession.
Frankum remains in Butler County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail. Court documents do not indicate if he is represented by an attorney.
