Join the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania in voting for Buffalo Creek as Pennsylvania's River of the Year.

Buffalo Creek is important ecologically, recreationally and economically. It's also an Important Bird Area and a high-quality watershed in Butler, Armstrong and Allegheny counties.

The area is home to Todd Nature Reserve, the Butler-Freeport Community Trail, many species of conservation concern, and contains some of the state's best fishing for stocked trout.

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will offer a drive-up food distribution from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 26 at Lernerville Speedway, 313 N. Pike Road, Sarver.Reservations are required.Each reservation will receive 50 pounds of food, which volunteers will load into each vehicle's trunk or back seat. Drivers and passengers are to remain inside their vehicles at all times.Reservations are being accepted at pittsburghfoodbank.org.

Gov. Tom Wolf announced on Friday that $2.2 billion in federal stimulus funding is being dedicated to school districts affected by the coronavirus pandemic.Wolf said the funding will support food programs, technological improvements and other education services.The amounts for each district will be determined based on the number of low-income students served by the district.Butler Area will receive $5,864,227, South Butler County $966,371, Seneca Valley $1,078,568, Slippery Rock Area $1,088,949, Karns City Area $933,523, Moniteau $1,166,763, Freeport $656,957 and Mars Area $542,968.

The family support group will resume meeting in person from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA, 339 N. Washington St.The group is for families with individuals with addiction. Meetings had been stopped because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
