Twenty-four members of the Knoch High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America attended the 2007 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference recently in Hershey.
More than 3,000 Pennsylvania students attended the conference, competing in business, career and leadership development events.
During the state event, Knoch student Brianna Brucker qualified for the national competition by earning first place in the Word Processing I category.
Brucker, 15, is a freshman at Knoch High School, where she is a cheerleader and a member of the softball team. She will compete in the national competition to be held June 28 to July 1 in Chicago.
Other Knoch students placing at the state competition were Gretchen Adler, eighth place, Job Interview; Christa Moore, fourth place, Introduction to Business Communications; D’Ante Natili, eighth place, Spreadsheet Applications; Matt Slaughenhaupt, seventh place, Visual Basic; the team of Kate Werling and Emily Sherry, third place, Web Site Development; and the team of Kaitlynn Christy and Christa Moore, fourth place, Community Service.
Before attending the conference, the Knoch chapter raised $2,034 to donate to the American Red Cross, the FBLA’s 2007 state project.

<b>Christopher Passione</b>, son of Jim and Laurie Passione of Valencia, has been inducted to the Sigma Pi Sigma National Physics Honor Society at Westminster College.Passione is a 2004 graduate of Mars High School.———
<b>Jenna Rosenbauer</b>, daughter of Ray and Jeanne Rosenbauer of Butler, was recently inducted to the Kappa Delta Pi education honor society at Westminster College.She is currently pursuing a degree in elementary and special education at the college.———
Several students from Homeacre Christian Academy recently competed in the Accelerated Christian Education Great Lakes Student Convention in Adrian, Mich.Katelyn Ray, a senior, placed first in the dress making, knitting, limited and unlimited archery, poetry recitation and ventriloquism categories and fourth in crochet.Junior Amanda English placed third in Bible memory and fifth in poetry recitation.Home-schooled students Kari Strobel and Clarissa Boden also competed.Strobel, a senior, placed first in science research and science theoretical, third in social studies collection and fifth in clay sculpture.Boden earned first place in Bible memory, miscellaneous solo and clay sculpture. She also placed second in the dramatic monologue competition.Students placing in the events will advance to the international convention to be held May 19-25 in Flagstaff, Ariz.
