Kristen Hasychak of West Sunbury recently was named a recipient of the Oklahoma City-based Dobson Communications annual PRIDE Scholarship program.The award was given out during an assembly May 17 at Moniteau High School.Applicants for the scholarship were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and be a prospective high school graduate. They also must be current customers of Cellular One from Dobson Cellular Systems or children of employees of Dobson Communications.There were 100 awards granted throughout the 17 states in which Dobson Communications operates.———
Butler High School senior <B>Raymond West</B> has received a trustee scholarship to attend Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio.The son of Ray and Marci West, he was a member of the German Club, National Junior Honor Society and received an academic letter and community service pin.The scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement.———Mars High School graduate <B>Jaclyn McElheny</B> of Valencia recently was named the Ross Park Mall recipient of a 2007 Simon Youth Foundation $1,500 scholarship.The scholarships are awarded in communities that host Simon malls based on financial need, academic performance, leadership skills and participation in school and community activities.McElheny is enrolled at Indiana (Pa.) University.———<B>Sandra Cox</B>, daughter of Dave and Sandi Cox of Evans City, has been accepted to Indiana (Pa.) University for the August session.A recent graduate of Butler High School, she is a recipient of the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation Award, Butler Junior Women's Club, Elks Scholarship and the Glenn R. Logan Scholarship.She plans to major in family and consumer science, minoring in art education.———<B>Susan Francino</B>, an eighth grade student at Seneca Valley High School, was recently honored at a statewide awards ceremony hosted by the The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.Invitation to the ceremony was based on Susan's performance on the SAT and STB test. She received high honors in SAT math and reading and for her STB results.She received a three-credit scholarship to Clarion (Pa.) University for her participation in the program.Susan plays the oboe, studies ballet at Wexford Dance Academy, competes with Seneca's Academic Games team and will march with the Raiders Marching Band in the fall.She is the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Francino.———<B>John Evankovich III </B>of Karns City, son of John Evankovich and Susan Strobel, has been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine for the fall, 2007 sememster.Agraduate of Karns City High School, he recently completed studies at Gannon University.
