Cranberry police seek alleged restaurant robber
CRANBERRY TWP — Police released two new images Thursday of the man they said robbed the McDonald's in Cranberry Commons off Route 228.
And, they say, he used techniques more sophisticated than the average burglar.
According to police, the suspected robber took off in a black Chrysler 200 following the 4:50 p.m. Tuesday robbery, but when police tried tracking the license plate number, they found the plate had been stolen earlier Tuesday. They said “several” other license plates had been linked to the Chrysler sedan, but those were stolen as well.
The robbery occurred when the suspect ordered food from the restaurant and paid in cash. When the cashier opened the drawer, however, the suspect pushed the cashier out of the way and grabbed the money, police said.
Police describe the man as being a white male in his mid-20s to mid-30s. At the time, he was wearing a gray quarter-zip sweatshirt and an Under Armour urban camouflage hat.
He was last seen driving on Route 228 westbound at I-79 around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
