The Butler Transit Authority on Tuesday approved a two-year maintenance and service contract for security cameras at the Route 528 park and ride lot in Zelienople.

Authority board members unanimously voted to award the contract to 2 Krew Security and Surveillance of Kittanning.

The contract costs $3,540 per year and comes after the initial three-year contract expired, said John Paul, authority executive director.

He said the new two-year contract will cover the remaining life of the video cameras.

A separate contract for accounting services was also approved.

The board approved a three-year contract for as needed services with Habenicht Novak & Birckbichler Certified Public Accountants of Butler.

The contract calls for the authority to pay $76 an hour for a staff accountant and $55.25 an hour for a controller.

Solicitor Rebecca Black said the contract is needed due to an expected extended absence of authority finance manager Tiffany Fosnaught.

A third contract wasn't resolved.

The authority requested bids for an electric supplier for its offices, garage and compressed natural gas fueling station, but no bids were submitted, Black said.

Suppliers who were contracted told the authority that the contract was too small to deal with the hassle of the federal bidding process, she said.

Black said she would contact the Federal Transit Administration to determine if electric suppliers are required to follow the bidding process.

The board authorized her to enter into a contract with one of two suppliers through a broker.
