HAMPTON TWP, Allegheny County — A Clinton Township man already accused of sexually assaulting one gymnastics student at gyms in Butler and Allegheny counties is facing new charges based on statements from two new victims.

State police in Butler filed the charges against Keith R. Callen, 45, of 117 Sarver Road on Wednesday, shortly before he was scheduled to appear before a district judge in Allegheny County for a preliminary hearing on the original charges.

According to court documents the two new alleged victims told police that Callen sexually assaulted them and took pictures of them partially nude on multiple occasions when they were children. The abuse occurred at Callen’s Sarver Road home on multiple occasions and at the victims’ home in Middlesex Township on at least one occasion, according to court documents. That incident also included the girls’ stepfather, police said, who introduced the girls to Callen and would take them to Callen’s home, where Callen would take partially nude, posed photos of the girls and sexually assaulted one of them on multiple occasions.

One of the girls was 5 or 6 years old when the abuse occurred; the other was 6 or 7 years old, according to court documents. The victims are both in their early twenties now, police said.

Police, in their court filing, say the stepfather was arrested in 2001 for committing “various sexual acts” with both girls.

The new charges filed Wednesday against Callen include aggravated indecent assault, and endangering the welfare of children, both of which are felonies; and indecent assault, and corruption of minors, both of which are misdemeanors.

Callen already faced charges of sexual assault by a sports official, volunteer or employee of nonprofit or not-for-profit organization, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors and indecent assault.

Those charges were filed in April after police interviewed a former gymnastics student of Callen’s, who told investigators that he began sexually assaulting her at gymnastics facilities in Butler and Allegheny counties, starting when she was 14 years old.

Callen began coaching that victim when she was 12, at Jewart’s Gymnastics in Hampton Township, police said, and initially gave her a necklace as a gift, which her parents returned to him.

Police said the sexual assaults began after Callen was fired from Jewart’s and moved to Trinity Gymnastics in Gibsonia. The victim told police that Callen assaulted her in the gym during a training session, and another time at Elite Athletic Center in Butler Township. The victim also told police that Callen had sex with her in a Jeep parked at a gas station in Adams Township when she was 16, and again in 2015, in the parking lot of Home Depot in Butler, when she was 17.

According to online court documents the preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday, on the original charges against Callen, was continued. He is currently scheduled to appear before District Judge Tom Swan on July 20 for a hearing on those charges and the new criminal complaint police filed on Wednesday.
