ZELIENOPLE — Borough council unanimously approved four special event permit applications at its Monday, Sept. 28, meeting, including three by the Zelienople Area Business Assocation (ZABA).

Main Street is expected to be closed Oct. 29 from 4 to 9 p.m. for the Zelienople Merchant Trick-or-Treat Halloween Parade; and on Dec. 3 from 7 to 7:30 p.m. for the Holiday Parade.

The borough will apply for the permit from PennDOT for ZABA, the cosponsors of the events, to use the space.

“Part of this request is we'll be applying as the permit holders on their behalf,” said Andrew Spencer, borough manager.

ZABA also received permission to hold its Small Biz Saturday event in the borough’s business district on Nov. 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The annual Get Fit Family Reindeer Race, organized by Joella Baker, was also cleared to take place at the borough’s Community Park on the morning of Dec. 19.

Council also voted to set the time for Trick-or-Treat on Oct. 31 as 6 to 8 p.m.
