Seneca Valley Senior Faith Condrick and juniors Kate Lipscomb and Nicholas Nedzesky have been announced as 2021 Recognized Carson Scholars.
These three students maintained high academic standards and a strong commitment to their communities and renewed their Carson Scholar status for their efforts.
“You continue to demonstrate the highest standards of academic achievement, integrity, civic and social responsibility,” said Carson Scholars Fund Scholarship Director Felicia Wise. “You should be very proud of this accomplishment and the outstanding work you are doing in your school and community.”
This year, the Carson Scholars Fund awarded its 10,000th scholarship marking an incredible 25 years of honoring high academic achievers across the nation.
Mars Area High School seniors Alek Johnson and Elizabeth Long advanced to take the 2021 U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) Exam April 17.Johnson and Long were among 13 students from the Pittsburgh region to qualify for the national level exam based on their scores on the Local Chemistry Olympiad Exam, administered March 27. They are the first Mars Area students to advance to the USNCO Exam.Those students who score in the Top 20 on the USNCO Exam will be invited to a two-week Study Camp. Based on their performance, four students will then be selected to represent the United States at the International Chemistry Olympiad.
