COVID recovery rate rises, as vaccinations continue

The statewide recovery rate from COVID-19 increased a percentage point Thursday to 90% as the number of new cases and hospitalizations began to decrease.

The state Department of Health reported 22 new cases in the county, raising the total to 10,796 since the pandemic began, and 2,476 new cases across the state, raising the total to 1,166,692. About 27,926 of the cases in the state are among health care workers.

There are 2,131 people hospitalized, including 467 in the intensive care. The 14-day average number of people hospitalized per day is starting to decrease after recently peaking at 2,661 patients, which is slightly below what it was at the height of the spring 2020 peak in May.

No new deaths were reported in the county Thursday, but 57 deaths across the state raise the total to 26,447.

The department also reported that 19,727 people in the county are partially vaccinated and 67,543 are fully vaccinated.

Statewide, 1,825,025 people are partially vaccinated and 3,710,362 people are fully vaccinated, and an average of 81,100 people are getting vaccinated every day.
