Butler golf’s Karsten Lenyk cards 1-over 71 as Tornado win tri-match: Roundup

All five of Butler’s scoring golfers came in with sub-80 scores at Slippery Rock Golf Club, led by Karsten Lenyk’s 71, as the Golden Tornado boys golf team won an 18-hole tri-match involving Slippery Rock and Knoch on Monday.

Butler finished with 379 strokes. Slippery Rock carded a 420 and Knoch a 433.

The Tornado’s outing also included efforts from Eli Snyder (75), Levi McClellan (76), Tyler Kos (78) and Drew Cuny (79).

Slippery Rock was led by Hudson Vice (75) and Jackson Novak (79).

Knoch’s Jake Jones carded a 78.

Freeport 196, Burrell 232 — Jackson Kane’s 37 paced the Yellowjackets (2-1) to this victory at Buffalo Golf Course.

Max Zigo added a 38 and Gavin Tola a 39 for Freeport.

Seneca Valley 189, New Castle 231 — At Cranberry Highlands, Lucas Barber shot a 35 for the Raiders. Will Pefferman added a 37, Evan Hock a 38 and Bradley Steiner a 39.

Mars claims tri-match at Pheasant Ridge G.C. — Jackson Geiger fired a 34 for the Planets (188), who topped Hampton (204) and Plum (210).

Landon Mitro, Luka Zatchey and Casel Klinefelter each carded a 38 for the Planets.

Girls golf

Elise Wadas’ 40 was the day’s best score, leading Mars to a 186-250 win against Butler at Hiland Golf Course.

Butler’s Lilly Bauer carded a 59.

Girls tennis

Seneca Valley opened its season with a sweep of Baldwin.

Winning for the Raiders in singles play were Ella Marley, Alvera Chokshi and Kayla McKenzie.

Monique Polas/Imogen Culley and Evie Miske/Ella Jacisin earned doubles victories.
