Historic Harmony hits mark
HARMONY — Historic Harmony has met its second matching-gift challenge of the year.
The historical nonprofit organization received nearly $5,700 from donors during a two month fundraising campaign that ended at the beginning of December. The sum raised is more than the $5,000 gift given by an anonymous donor.
The latest matching-gift challenge was inspired by the earlier successful campaign. During that campaign, members donated $11,000 to qualify for a $10,000 grant from an anonymous donor.
John Ruch, president of Historic Harmony, said the organization expects to receive another significant monetary gift later this month. If given, the gift would bring total donations to within several thousand dollars of its $50,000 target for this year.
“These gifts will help improve museum facilities and support its activities,” Ruch said.
“We are grateful for the donations the challenges encouraged, which also serve to endorse the importance of Historic Harmony’s work in history education, historic preservation and community economic development.”
