Overnight restrictions on Interstate 79 interchange to begin Monday
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced overnight restrictions on Interstate 79 beginning Monday, Nov. 9, in Marshall Township and Franklin Park in Allegheny County.
The restrictions come as PennDOT begins work on its I-79/Route 910 Wexford interchange project, which the agency says will improve traffic conditions in the area.
According to PennDOT, traffic on I-79 southbound will be reduced to a single lane between the on and off ramps of exit 73 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Nov. 9 through 11. Traffic will be restricted to a single lane in both directions on this stretch of highway from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12. Northbound traffic on this stretch of highway will be reduced to one lane from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, and then again from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16 through Wednesday, Nov. 18.
The restrictions may be lifted earlier if work is completed ahead of schedule, according to PennDOT.
