Kathleen Twerdok

Twerdok

Kathleen Patricia Twerdok, of Butler, a soul of profound kindness and relentless compassion, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, at the age of 85.

Born March 21, 1941, in Butler, Kathy lived a life deeply rooted in family, service to others and a profound faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a devoted wife, a caring mother and an adoring grandmother. She will be remembered most for her unrelenting desire to spread the love of God to anyone she met.

Kathy spent her professional years cultivating a legacy of education and philanthropy. She graduated with a degree in education from Slippery Rock. Through her vivacious career as an elementary teacher at Ellwood City Schools, the director of Calvary Daycare and later serving at the marketing director of the Girl Scouts of America, her passionate pursuit of teaching and inspiring children left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have been under her tutelage and care.

Kathy’s servant heart extended far beyond her professional career. A devoted member of North Street Christian Church, Kathy faithfully served her congregation as the head of the nursery, the coordinator of funeral dinners, and served on the board of directors for Shepherd of my Heart Preschool. As a short-term missionary, she offered herself to serve a multitude of missions and organizations, even traveling internationally to fulfill the Lord’s calling. Kathy also was a proud supporter of St. Jude’s Hospital and a devoted member of the Soroptimist Club. If there was no better way to say it, Kathy’s heart for God and for people knew no borders.

Kathy’s legacy lives on through her family, who will forever cherish the spirit of selflessness she brought into their lives. She is survived by her sister, Carol Shakely; her three children, Sherry (Robert) Gray, Michael (Laura) Twerdok and Beth (Frank) Adamosky; her loving grandchildren, Steven Twerdok, Ariana (Joshua) Thomas, Charity O’Donnell and Courtney Adamosky; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cherished extended family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Wallace Twerdok; her parents, Samuel Cummings and Victoria Sgro; her stepfather, Anthony Sgro; her brothers, Bill Cummings and Jim Sgro; her son-in law, Jay O’Donnell; and many extended relatives.

Though Kathy has gone home to meet her Lord and is at peace, her memory remains an anchor of love, service and inspiration for us all.
