Slippery Rock woman charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment after domestic incident

A 23-year-old Slippery Rock woman faces charges alleging her of crashing her vehicle into a stationary car and causing other property damage during a domestic dispute in Washington Township.

The woman, Rachel M. Houser, was charged with multiple misdemeanors including simple assault, reckless endangerment, two counts of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and driving under the influence.

According to a police affidavit, the incident took place Sunday, Nov. 1, when Houser tracked down her ex-boyfriend at a mobile home park on Five Oak Lane in Washington Township to confront him about a domestic matter.

The incident report states that shortly after her arrival, Houser began damaging property belonging to the homeowner (who was not her ex-boyfriend), including the window of the residence and the windshield of the homeowner’s 2012 Kia Soul, as well as her ex-boyfriend’s motorcycle.

According to the report, Houser then drove away in her vehicle before turning around and striking the homeowner’s Kia at a speed high enough to force the parked car to rotate 90 degrees. The affidavit states her ex-boyfriend had to jump out of the way of Houser’s path of travel to avoid being struck.

Pennsylvania State Police arrived shortly thereafter and placed Houser in cuffs. The arresting officer reported the smell of alcohol on her person, and Houser admitted that she had been drinking before the incident.

Houser is currently confined to Butler County Prison as she was unable to post bail of $20,000. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Nov. 24 in front of District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
