A North Dakota man is accused of groping a woman outside a party during the 2026 Pennsic camping event at Cooper’s Lake Campground, according to charges filed earlier this month.

Charles Jacob Nelson, 24, was charged Oct. 16 by state police with misdemeanor indecent assault following an Aug. 2 incident.

Police said the woman and two others were attending a party where Nelson was checking ID’s outside. The woman was leaving around 1 a.m. and saying bye to Nelson when he grabbed her butt and lifted her without her consent, according to charging documents.

Police said the woman was familiar with Nelson but not close to him. Nelson’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16 before District Judge Joseph Nash.
