New principal hired
BUTLER TWP — The Clarence Brown School has a new principal.
Dean Hoffman, who has worked in various positions for the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV since 2002, took over as principal at MIU IV-run Clarence Brown School last month.
The school serves about 40 special needs students from kindergarten to 21 years of age from all districts in Butler County, and also serves a few students from the Allegheny-Clarion Valley and Grove City school districts.
Earlier in his career, Hoffman worked as a special education supervisor, and was principal at the Frew Mill School in Lawrence County from 2002 to 2013, when the facility closed.
Hoffman has a special education certification from Millersville University, a principal certification from Shippensburg University, and a superintendent letter of eligibility from Westminster College.
He has a bachelor’s degree from Geneva College.
Hoffman replaced Kristen Salina, who had been principal at Clarence Brown for six years.
