Moniteau takes action to protect district computers
CHERRY TWP — The Moniteau School Board on Monday night approved spending $11,223 for new computer firewalls.
The firewalls will help protect the district’s computer systems from hackers, viruses and other sources of damage transmitted through the Internet.
James Cochran, director of technology for the district, said the current firewalls are about 10 years old.
“We’ve got more than the life out of them,” he said.
The new firewalls will be bought from OpenArc.
In other action, the board:
• Accepted a donation of floor hockey equipment from the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. The equipment will be used at Dassa McKinney Elementary School.
• Accepted an anonymous donation of a shed for the high school softball field.
