Rev. Howard Wolfe
The Rev. Howard E. Wolfe, 98, of Selinsgrove, Snyder County, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 2:05 a.m. Monday at the Sunbury Community Hospital, where he was admitted Saturday.
He was a resident of the Manor at Penn Village for the past six months and prior to that was a resident of the Pennfield Apartments in Selinsgrove.
Born Jan. 21, 1908, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Robert J. and Goldie E. Hilbert Wolfe.
His death breaks a marital union of 77 years to the former Myrtle R. Purvis, who survives.
He was a 1940 graduate of the Practical Bible College in Johnson City, N.Y. He was a retired pastor serving independent Baptist churches in Pennsylvania and New York, including 18 years as pastor of First Baptist Church in Northumberland.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Roseann E. Seebold of Selinsgrove; a son, Samuel R. Wolfe of Hummelstown; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Teets; three brothers, William, Charles "Chuck" and Keith Wolfe, and a son-in-law, Vennard L. Seebold.
<B>WOLFE</B> — Friends of the Rev. Howard E. Wolfe, who died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the <B>V.L. Seebold Funeral Home</B>, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. John Thornbury officiating.Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Salem Church Road, Selinsgrove.
