Barnhart

Barbara A. “Barb” Barnhart, 95, of Chicora, passed away peacefully while in the company of her family Tuesday evening, Oct. 6, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Barbara was born in Karns City on June 17, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Arnold J. “Zeke” and Mildred M. “Mid” Boyer Hutchison.

Barb was a 1949 graduate of Chicora High School, and in her earlier years she was employed at National Transit in Chicora. She retired from the payroll department at Penreco in Karns City following 15 years of service. Barb looked forward to going to lunch with family and friends, shopping trips and jigsaw puzzles.

In her earlier years, Barb attended the Chicora United Methodist Church, and later, she and her husband became members of the Mount Joy United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale L. “Bud” Barnhart, who passed away Aug. 3, 2018. The couple had been married in Chicora on Jan. 12, 1951.

Barb is survived by two daughters, Debbie Sheakley and her husband, Doug, of Karns City, and Laurie D. Young and her husband, Ron, of Chicora; three grandchildren, Shaun Sheakley, of Karns City, Jason Young, of Chicora, and Jamie Saylor and her husband, Bob, of Bruin; five great-grandchildren, Marlee Sheakley and her fiancé, Alex Christie, Danika Sheakley, and Austin, Amber and Sydney Young. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Dick Craig, of Chicora; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sherry Miller and her husband, Dick; a brother, Don Hutchison and his wife, Pat; and a sister-in-law, Betty Craig.

BARNHART — Friends of Barbara A. “Barb” Barnhart, who died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, and from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.

A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeffrey Miller, Barb’s nephew, senior pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel Pittsburgh North, officiating.

Interment will be in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Barnhart’s name may be made to the Chicora Fire Department, P.O. Box F, Chicora, PA 16025.
