Work on the new $4.2 million sports stadium at Freeport High School on Route 356 in Buffalo Township is expected to be done this week. The synthetic-turf field will be ready this fall for football, girls lacrosse ,and girls and boys soccer. It has seating for 2,000. Athletic director Shawn Stivenson said the final work is being done on the concession stands and restrooms. Previously, the Yellowjackets football team played at Swartz Field in Freeport, its home since the 1920s.
