The Central Blood Bank is urging area residents to augment the bank’s waning supply by donating blood.

Kristen Lane said summer vacations and other factors typically cause a severe depletion in summer blood supplies both locally and nationally.

The Central Blood Bank has locations in Butler and Cranberry Township.

Donations are accepted at the Butler Health System, Suite 206, 127 Oneida Valley Road from noon to 7 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

Donations at the Cranberry Township location, which is on the second floor at the Butler Centre, 20421 Route 19, are accepted from noon to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

Whole blood, double red blood cells, plasma and platelets are collected at both locations.
