A Parker man was sentenced to state prison in Butler County Court on Tuesday, after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting two girls.

Lawrence L. Everetts, 50, was sentenced to 7 to 17 years in a state correctional institution by Judge William Shaffer. He was also ordered to undergo lifetime sexual offenders registration and to pay court costs.

Everetts pleaded guilty to felony rape and aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16 yeas old on July 17.

He was initially charged with felony rape, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of a child and aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old, as well as two counts each of indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and indecent exposure and one count of indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old.

The charges stem from an investigation by the state police after two girls reported being sexually assaulted by Everetts in different locations in Butler County. The girls told police the assaults began when they were 14 and 11 years old, respectively, according to court documents.

Court documents state that the older girl told police that the first time Everetts touched her was when she was at a home in Bruin, sometime before Christmas in 2015, according to court records.

She said she fell asleep in the bottom bunk of a bed and woke up because she felt something touching her leg. Her underwear and shorts were pulled off and on the floor, and Everetts was assaulting her, according to court records.

She reported that she told Everetts to stop, but he said “no,” only stopping when he heard someone walking up the stairs.

The girl also reported another incident a month later at Everetts' home on Taylor Road, where she fell asleep on the couch and awoke to Everetts assaulting her.

She also reported an incident in a car, with Everetts driving, when he allegedly reached into the backseat and touched her inappropriately under the guise of looking for his coat, court documents said.

Court records say the younger girl, when interviewed by Butler County Alliance for Children, described a situation when Everetts asked her if he could touch her, and court records say the girl had been too afraid to say no.

Everetts reportedly touched her under her clothes before telling her to lie down. He then exposed himself to the victim, court records said. The girl said this happened between six and 10 times with Everetts.

Many family members of the victims were in the courtroom, and the mother of one of the girls spoke, saying she has seen an attitude change with her daughter and how she interacts with people.

“He stole her innocence,” she said. “Innocence will never be restored but strength will come out of this.”

The girls and family members are not being identified due to the nature of the allegations and the victims' age.

Everetts has been held in the Butler County Prison since his arrest on July 27, 2016, on $500,000 cash bail.
