CRANBERRY TWP — A group that includes members from Butler, Beaver and Allegheny counties will host a town hall-style forum on health care next week at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 10 in the school’s auditorium, according to Catherine Lalonde, one of the members of We The People, the group hosting the forum.

Lalonde said the event, which is titled “We The People: A Community Conversation on Healthcare,” will feature a panel discussion that includes personal stories and a question-and-answer session that includes legal professionals, a teacher and representatives from the policy group Allies for Children and AARP.

Lalonde said the group hopes the event can transcend the partisan polarization that has characterized the national health care debate.

“It’s the idea of citizens being an active part of our democracy,” she said. “Not just saying what we don’t want, but identifying what it is that we do want, and be(ing) a more active part of democracy and making things better in the country.”
