Sarver

Richard C. Sarver, 86, of North Duffy Road died Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 11, 1920, in Butler, he was a son of Joseph and Clara Strobel Sarver.

A World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps, he served as a radio operator on B-24 bombers and flew 35 combat missions over Germany.

He had been a milkman for Sealtest Dairy in Portersville for 17 years until 1965. Then he and his wife owned and operated the Village Dairy store at the Point Plaza Shopping Center from 1965 until 1971. Beginning in 1971, he was a client adviser/mentor for PARC in Butler for 11 years and retired in 1982.

Mr. Sarver was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. He also a member of the VFW Post 249 and the American Legion Post 117.

Surviving are a son, John R. "Jack" Sarver and his wife, Mary, of Brandon, Fla.; three daughters, Deborah Sarver of Butler, Kathleen Lehnerd of Thomasville, N.C., and Judy Brooks and her husband, Kerry, of Houston, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Josephine Pawling of Reading; and three grandchildren, Zachary J. Sarver of Gainesville, Fla., and Mallory E. and Max D. Sarver, both of Brandon. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, John Mahler of Butler; and a sister-in-law, Leola Sarver of Cranberry Township, and numerous nieces and nephews.

His wife, Jane E. Price Sarver, whom he married March 13, 1948, died Dec. 23, 2002. He also was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, including Marie Rehrer of Reading, who died April 22, 2007.

Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N.
