With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, the State Police, Troop D, which covers Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties, would like to remind drivers to operate vehicles safely, be alert and obey traffic laws.

State police will have an even greater emphasis placed on detecting impaired drivers, speeding and safety equipment violations during the holiday enforcement period between Nov. 22 and 26, according to a news release.

The state police will be working diligently to prevent traffic crashes to save lives and prevent injuries. All drivers are asked to cooperate and join the efforts by driving safely and sober.

Take the time to be sure that you and all your passengers are securely buckled up before pulling out into traffic, the release states.
