Police: Man threatened to burn sister's house
A Center Township man is behind bars on charges he threatened to burn down his sister's house in Oakland Township during an altercation there Friday evening. No one was reported injured in the incident.
Troy J. Whitmire, 24, was arrested after he later drove to the police barracks in Butler Township. District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned him on misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief.
Police said they were called to victim's home on St. Joe Road around 5:30 p.m. She told them that Whitmire, her younger brother, had showed up uninvited at her house. She recounted that he started arguing with her, and she asked him to leave.
But he became more angry, according to charging documents, and threatened to burn down the victim's house, damage her vehicle and harm her children and dog.
The defendant is accused of kicking the victim's front door, denting the door and breaking the glass. Damage was estimated at $500.
Police noted in their criminal complaint that Whitmire, at the time of his arrest, was free on bail for allegedly assaulting a family member. He also has a protection from abuse order against him.
