Pierce

Rachel Elizabeth Pierce, 90, formerly of Brownsdale Road, died at 10:20 a.m. Feb. 29 at Sunnyview Home.

Born July 8, 1917, in Banks Township, she was a daughter of Walter L. and Jennie Spiece Pierce.

She had been a secretary and bookkeeper for the Butler School District and for the Pittsburgh Presbytery.

Miss Pierce was a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Willing Workers and the Tuesday AM Bible Study at the church. She also was a member of the Business and Professional Women and the Circle of Presbyterian Women.

Her other interests were furthering her religion, reading, making plastic canvas crafts and knitting bandages for her church charities. She had been a missionary to Egypt for the Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are four nieces, Judith Tyson of Butler, Carol Eichenlaub of Cabot, Sarah "Sally" Weir of Canfield, Ohio, and Janice Metkin of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; a nephew, James Keasey of Zelienople, seven great-nieces; a great-nephew; two great-great-nephews; and a great-great-niece.

A sister, Kathryn Keasey, preceded her in death.

Memorial services for Rachel Elizabeth Pierce, who died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 15 at the Hill United Presbyterian Church with the Rev.
