Tomsich

Joseph C. Tomsich, 74, of Evans City Road died Sunday at his home after an illness.

Born Dec. 28, 1933, in Cheswick, he was a son of Joseph C. Sr. and Mary Ostrich Tomcich.

Mr. Tomsich was a 1951 graduate of the Aspinwall High School.

He retired as a salesman for Yoder Pontiac in Zelienople, where he worked from 1985 until 2000. For the past year, he was a driver for the Manheim Butler Auto Auction. He had owned and operated the Crystal Inn in Cheswick from 1974 through 1984.

He was an active member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian. He was a Eucharistic minister at his church, served on the Bereavement Committee and was a volunteer at parish fish fries and at the Monthly Men's Club Breakfast. He also was a member of the St. Fidelis Men's Club, the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was a member of the 4th degree color guard of the Knights of Columbus in Butler.

His wife, Dorcas Erb Tomsich, who he married June 28, 1952, survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Kunkle and her husband, Daniel, of Philadelphia; a son, Kenneth B. Tomsich and his wife, Cindy, of Thief River Falls, Minn.; a brother, Kenneth L. Tomcich and his wife, Susan, of Arlington, Va.; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

<B>TOMSICH </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Joseph C. Tomsich, who died Sunday, March 16, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>,<B> </B>201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian. Burial will follow at the Deer Creek Cemetery in Cheswick.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis Parish will hold a parish prayer service at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Members of Knights of Columbus Council 866 will recite the rosary at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
