BUTLER TWP — A Butler boy is accused of attacking his therapist, breaking the man's nose and causing other injuries in an altercation last month at the Butler Crossing shopping plaza, authorities said.

Butler Township police did not identify the 16-year-old boy, who they charged Monday in Butler County juvenile court with misdemeanor assault.

Police said the victim, a 57-year-old Ambridge, Beaver County man, had driven the teen for a haircut at the shopping plaza June 26. The boy apparently was not happy with the haircut and started walking away from the hair salon around 1:45 p.m.

At some point, the boy assaulted the victim in the area of the First Commonwealth Bank, according to a police report. The man suffered a fractured nose, concussion, bruised ribs and numerous facial cuts. He was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital and released.

In addition to simple assault, police charged the teen with harassment.

Police would not say if the boy was detained at a facility or released to relatives or a guardian following the incident.
