Janet Irene Clark Kohlhepp, 83, of Chicora, Concord Township, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Concordia.

Born Nov. 19, 1942, Janet was the daughter of the late George H. and Marie (Young) Clark. The middle of three children, she grew up in a home filled with love and laughter. Although her family moved several times throughout the Northeast during her childhood, Pittsburgh was always her home. Janet graduated from Gateway High School in 1960.

Janet married Glenn Kohlhepp on a beautiful summer day, June 12, 1965. She was an invaluable partner in Glenn’s ministry, serving faithfully in a variety of roles within their churches and women’s groups. Together, Janet and Glenn built a meaningful ministry and created a loving, supportive home for their family.

Janet’s love of children and learning led her to a career in education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1964 and her master’s degree in elementary education from Slippery Rock University in 1968. As the wife of a minister, Janet moved several times throughout Western Pennsylvania. During those years, she taught in the Spring Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh and at Chicora Elementary School. Later, she served as a regular substitute teacher in the North Hills, Shaler, Waynesburg and other Greene County school districts.

Janet had a warm and gentle spirit. Though often reserved, she possessed a wonderful sense of humor, if you knew to look for it. She created a welcoming home and loved nothing more than a quiet space with a good book. Later in life, she found great joy in doting on her grandchildren.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Glenn; her three sons, Gregg Kohlhepp and his wife, Nicole, of Bellefonte, Mark Kohlhepp and his wife, Mary, of Cecil, and Brian Kohlhepp (Samantha), of Pittsburgh; and seven grandchildren, Johnathan, Jessica, Bruce, Jack, Luke, Alayna and Alex.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brother, George Clark, and her sister, Arlene (Clark) Harper.

Her steadfast faith, quiet strength and unwavering love for her family and church is remembered by all who knew her.

KOHLHEPP — A memorial service for Janet Irene Clark Kohlhepp, who died Saturday, July 25, 2026, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Chicora United Methodist Church, Central Ave., Chicora, with the Rev. Bev Roscoe, church pastor, officiating.

Private interment will precede the service at Bethel Cemetery in Ford City.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of HILE FUNERAL HOME of Chicora.
