Ortz

Richard James Ortz, 71, of Cabot, passed away at home, Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born Jan. 30, 1955, in Freeport, son of the late Robert and Elsie (Rusz) Ortz.

Richard was a heavy equipment operator in the agriculture industry. Rick loved gardening, carpentry and above all else, his family and friends. His amiability was unparalleled, sparking conversations and creating bonds with everyone he met. Rick especially loved his grandkids and his dogs.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Pamela “Pam” (Porter) Ortz; his sons, Justin (Julie) Ortz and Jacob Ortz; grandchildren, Makayla, Scarlett and Isabelle Ortz. Also surviving is a brother, Robert (Mary) Ortz.

ORTZ — All services for Richard James Ortz, who died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, will be private.

Arrangements are by DUSTER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum.

The family suggests contributions in Richard’s memory be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Society, or Methodist Church of Cabot.
