Mary Rose Savannah Sassone, 91, of Panama City Beach, Fla., peacefully passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, in Florida.

Born Sept. 23, 1934, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Fred Savannah Sr. and Susie Betro Savannah.

Mary lived in Butler until meeting and marrying the love of her life, Anthony Sassone. Soon after their wedding, Mary and Anthony moved to California, where they raised their family. They later lived in Las Vegas before retiring in Florida.

After losing her husband of 63 years, Mary enjoyed traveling around the U.S. before settling once again in Florida. She was an avid reader, a classic movie enthusiast and a lover of all sports. She will be remembered for her quick wit, thoughtfulness, unwavering love and constant support.

She is survived by her four children, Dale Sassone; Terry Sassone and his wife, Terri, his sons, Michael and Andrew, and her daughter, Haley; Nicole Howenstine and her husband, Johnny, and their daughters, Marin and Marlee; and Natalie Fischer and her husband, Brady.

Mary is also survived by her siblings, Donald Savannah and his wife, Darlene, Bernard Savannah and his wife, Susan, and Debra Albert and her husband, Robert; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Savannah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Anthony, who passed away Oct. 22, 2018, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Vavro; and her brothers, Fred Savannah Jr. and Joseph Savannah.

SASSONE — Friends and family of Mary Rose Savannah Sassone, who died Monday, April 13, 2026, are invited to attend the blessing service at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Calvary Cemetery, Butler, with Deacon Mitch Natali, of All Saints Parish, officiating.

Local arrangements were entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME SOUTH SIDE, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
