QUESTION: Why are you running for a seat?FOERTSCH: As 3 lifetime resident of Jefferson Township, I would like to become more involved in my community and place of employment. I would like to be a part in keeping Jefferson Township a great place to be born, raise a family, run a business, retire and have some recreation.RANKIN: Being raised and having raised my family in Jefferson Township, I truly care about the community and the people. Over the years, I have been committed to service and working hard in all my volunteer work at school, church and community events to make Jefferson Township a great place to live. Being an auditor for years now, I believe I would take action and work hard to grasp every single dollar for the taxpayers of Jefferson Township to keep our budget balanced and taxes low.QUESTION: What are the top three issues facing your township?FOERTSCH: Rising costs of materials and equipment with keeping our road's infrastructure well maintained and safe; potential excessive growth in our community that may change the lives of Jefferson Township residents and destroy valuable farmland, which has been a major part of my life and will continue to be; maintaining interactive communications between Jefferson Township residents and the municipal board.RANKIN: The high cost of operating the township with prices of everything skyrocketing, working to secure funds available to keep our roads and equipment in great shape, balancing the budget and making wise choices with the taxpayers' money to keep the real estate tax rate down.
