Chicora Elementary closed until Jan. 20
The Karns City School District announced the Chicora Elementary School will remain closed Wednesday due to COVID-19 protocol.
On Friday, the district was notified that two Chicora Elementary School students tested positive for COVID-19. One student was last in the building on Jan. 12, the other student was last in the building Jan. 14.
Chicora Elementary has three active cases in total. As a result, Chicora has met the state’s threshold for temporarily closing its building. Therefore, the building will be closed Wednesday.
There was no school for students Monday because it was a teacher in-service day. However, Chicora students will learn remotely Tuesday and Wednesday.
Chicora students will return to in-person instruction on Thursday, unless otherwise announced.
The district will conduct deep cleaning of the building.
All extracurricular activities at Chicora will either be canceled, postponed or moved to different venues during this closure.
