Nancy McDowell
Our beloved mother, Nancy A. McDowell, 86, of Butler, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, from an illness.
She was born in Butler on June 18, 1939, the daughter of the late Clarence and Pearl Weitzel.
Nancy was a homemaker who loved NASCAR and was one of Dale Earnhardt’s biggest fans. In addition, she enjoyed cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and spending time gardening. Much of her time was devoted to planting flowers outdoors and watching the birds and wildlife. Above all, she had unwavering faith and cherished her family, especially the moments spent with her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nancy was the beloved wife of William J. McDowell, whom she married Jan. 28, 1956. Together, they had a large family, including William and Diane McDowell; Beverly McDowell; Kimberly and Joe Valensky; Nancy and Bill Chuba; Dianne Crowe; Patricia Space; David McDowell; Suzanne McDowell; and Ronald and Heidi McDowell. She was the loving grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Darrel and Gene Weitzel.
Along with her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her grandson, Joey Valensky; and her sister, Pearl Palmer.
MCDOWELL — All services for Nancy A. McDowell, who died Sunday, May 17, 2026, were held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
Burial was held privately.
