Eli Zimmerman
Eli Nathan Zimmerman left us far too soon, on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026.
Eli was very curious, observant and intelligent from childhood. He was always taking things apart and putting them back together, whether it was Legos or other toys early on, then later on computers, gaming systems, and even e-bikes and then motorcycles. He could master anything that he was interested in incredibly quickly, and would try to bring others along in his passionate interest, even when we could barely grasp the basics of what he was saying. He loved going fast — skateboards, skiing, bicycles, motorcycles or just running off.
Eli had an amazing smile and he loved humor of all kinds, from dad jokes to quips that sometimes only made sense to him to gentle teasing of those he loved. He would especially joke around if he felt someone needed to be cheered up. Eli had so many nicknames that over time he would respond to almost anything if you used the right tone. He ate nearly any food, happily and often. He loved the water, whether the beach or the many creeks he ended up in on hikes in the woods.
Eli was very loving, especially to his younger sisters. He shared his interests with them, including teaching them various video games and how to use the VR and building complicated sand structures on our many beach trips. He was strong and would carry his sisters and their things when they got tired. He was always a helper, first at home and then as a hard-working employee in his jobs including Moe's, Jersey Mike's and most recently, Pittsburgh Movers.
Eli would look out for others, especially those he thought were unseen. He even helped to care for and raise a baby for the last year who wasn't his, including midnight feedings, formula runs and gentle attention. Eli was navigating adult life and figuring out what was next, trying to find his gifts professionally and looking at apartments so he could be independent in his own place.
Even in his death, Eli was able to help others. In accordance with his wishes, he donated his organs, saving and extending multiple lives.
Eli was deeply loved, probably more than he realized. We will miss him for the rest of our lives, until we are together again for eternity.
Eli was born in Sellersville, Pa., and was from Mars.
He is survived by his father, Brett Zimmerman; his mother and stepfather, Tracey and Scott Cesen; and his loving siblings, Alyssa Zimmerman, Julia Fierraro, Isaiah Zimmerman, Aliza Zimmerman, Esther Zimmerman, Abigail Zimmerman and Emily Cesen. He is also survived by his grandparents, Scott Zimmerman, Dorothy Zimmerman, Judith and Jesse Klink and Jennifer Krout; his great-grandmothers, Joy Zimmerman and Marie Weil; as well as numerous great-aunts and great-uncles, aunts and uncles and cousins.
Eli was preceded in death by his brother, Ezra Zimmerman; his grandfather, Raymond Christ; and his uncle, Jason Zimmerman.
